Long sunny days, warm nights, good food and a spot of culture. There’s a whole lot of ways to make the most of your summer, here’s our list of what’s on this summer around the country.

South Island Wine & Food Festival

Over 40 of the best South Island wineries and eateries get together at Hagley Park to wine and dine us. You’ll be sipping wine and enjoying fine fare while listening to the soulful tunes of Ladi6 and The Jordan Luck Band. This one’s top of our what’s on list for a reason.

Wanaka Beerfest

Join fellow hop-heads at this annual sell-out event. Welcome in warmer days with a cold one, local grub and frisbee golf. You can even get involved in the Homebrew competition, or smash some balls at the Golf tournament.

TSB Bank Festival of Lights

Light up your summer at the annual TSB Festival of Lights. Impressive light shows, live music, twilight music and fun stuff for kids transforms the already magical Pukekura Park into a wonderland.

Rhythm and Vines Music Festival

Gisborne 28 December 2019 – 1 Feb 2020
The first place in the world to see the new year sun, and the best party in the country to welcome in the new year. Camp onsite, or try your luck at booking a local beach house. This year will have you raving to hot international act Disclosure.

ASB Classic tennis

Auckland, 6-18 January 2020
The ASB Classic just gets bigger and bigger each year. 2020 is set to be one of the most anticipated sporting (and social) events on the calendar. International stars Serena Williams, Caroline Wozniacki, US Open winner Bianca Andreescu and Denis Shopopalov will be taking centre court. Even if you’re just there for the cocktail lounges, it’ll be ace.

HSBC New Zealand Sevens

Hamilton, 26-27 January 2020
The Sevens is infamously known as a wild party – with some footy being played in the background. Now hosted in Hamilton, the same fancy dress applies and dancing shoes are compulsory.


Tapapakanga Regional Park, 20-23 February 2020
Travel just an hour out of Auckland to experience this much anticipated boutique music festival. The coastal sanctuary has been named óne of the best festival locations in the world’. Don’t forget your glitter face paint and fairy wings (yes, even for the boys).
