Auckland’s best Level 3 takeaways
Maybe you’re over the sourdough buzz, and you’re done with the lockdown Masterchef challenges. Or maybe you’ve always preferred to leave the cooking (and dishes) to the pros. With the extension of Auckland’s Level 3, we won’t be wining and dining in restaurants just yet, but there’s plenty of sweet (and savoury) takeaway options. Whether you’re craving a cheeseburger or have a hankering for some fine dining, here are our top picks:
Fish Kitchen, Devonport
If you find yourself near the Peninsula, or near enough, Fish Kitchen is offering their seriously fancy and delicious menu of all things fishy. They also do a good kaarage fried chicken.
Shake Out, Takapuna
These guys do burgers, and they do them well. Need we say more? They’re open for online order pick-ups.
Millwater aren’t doing things half-pie, open full trading hours and offering their full menu takeaway during level 3. Order online or give them a call.
If you love Middle Eastern inspired food, chances are you’ve tried (and loved) Fatimas. You can order their usuals online, and they’ve just released ‘make me at home’ Chawarma kits to feed 4 Fatimas fans. Also available at Ponsonby location.
If you’re in the know, you’ll be familiar with this wine bar on K Road. it’s the wine bar on K Road where you’ll find the cool kids. You can order from their range of natural wines (we recommend Unkel from Nelson) for contactless pick up, or they’re delivering within 5kms. They’re also offering their sourdough pizza and a selection of sides Thursdays – Saturdays. But be quick, they’re a sell out.
Another K Road gem, Cotto is known for it’s loveable, cheerful Italian fare. In level 3 they’re offering both takeaway and ‘Cotto at Home’, where they do the prep and you finish it in your home kitchen (while claiming all the brownie points).
Paris Butter, Herne Bay
Don’t let the affordable pricing fool you – Paris Butter is fine dining, and they’ve got some delicious to-go options. Our pick is the pork belly, served with sourdough and truffle butter, with butternut and mandarin cheesecake, all for $45
Fabric, Hobsonville Point
Their daily offering is being updated daily through Level 3, but is sure not to dissapoint. Stop by for a flat white, a comforting roast, seriously decadent donuts, or one of their handy frozen meals.
The Hunting Lodge, Waimauku
These guys have level 3 sorted, with an extensive (and delicious) takeaway menu, with online ordering, for Thursday, Friday, Saturday. We’re thinking BBQ beef brisket burger, with truffle and parmesan fries, maybe some grilled broccoli for good measure. Followed by the Basque cheesecake, and accompanied with a Hawkes Bay Merlot Malbec, please.
You won’t be able to enjoy the view from the terrace, but Ampersand have coffee, takeaway meals, heat and eat meals, and a range of sammies and baked goods available.
L’Atelier du Fromage, Newmarket
You probably won’t be visiting France anytime soon, so why not get a taste of Parisian fare in the back streets of Newmarket. Find the ‘ADF to go’ tab at mvauron.co.nz to order baguettes, croque monsieurs, and pastries (of course). There’s also an ‘At Home’ menu ready to be simply heated and enjoyed.
Peach’s Hot Chicken, Panmure
Forget KFC and try this chicken joint in Panmure. Serving authentic Nashville hot chicken. Have your authentic Nashville hot chicken served with your choice of sides, in a brioche bun, or even with waffles. Choose your heat (mild to ‘holy cluck’) then deliberate whether you’ve got room for the peanut butter mousse pie.
Toby’s Seafood, Otahuhu
Sometimes you just feel like some old-fashioned greasy fish n chips, right? Well these guys keep it simple, and do it well. Located in Manurewa and Otahuhu, as well as other Auckland locations.
